The Ultimax Machine Gun

Here is another cool Youtube video from FPSRussia that shows off the ultimax machine gun. If you're a gun enthusiast, then this video is for you.

I thought that the opening part of the video where he blew away the stuff on the table with the shot gun was pretty cool, but the machine gun was far cooler. I really enjoy these videos, and I hope that FPSRussia keeps making them. If you have any comments or requests to see specific videos on the site, please leave a comment below.

I found this little action short on Youtube the other day featuring Eliza Dushku as a sexy crime fighter. Enjoy the show.

I am impressed. She acted almost as well as she did in Buffy :) Still, it's always nice to have even more Eliza Dushku, so here are a few sexy pictures of her as well.

Introduction to Starcraft 2: Marine Arena

Planets generated in Photoshop, with the initi...Image via Wikipedia
One of the most popular user created games of the Starcraft 2 series is a mod called Marine Arena. Accessible through the Custom Games menu, marine arena offers users a break from regular Starcraft 2 tournaments or ladder play. Focused around unit micromanagement, tactics, and overall strategy (i.e. unit counters), Marine Arena offers play based around control of auto-spawning marines, mercenaries, and heroes without having to worry about mining and overall (macro) economic management.

In the most played version of the game, eight players are divided into four teams of two players per team. The overall goal of each team is to preserve their own command centers (located at each team's spawning base) while killing the command centers of the opposing teams. Money is awarded for each enemy unit that is killed and as bonuses at regular intervals during the game. Each player initially starts out with a command center that auto-spawns marines and a set amount of money, agreed upon by players through a voting system before the game starts. This money can be used to purchase mercenaries that range from zealots and marauders on the low end to goliaths and void rays on the high end. Choosing the right mercenaries relative to your opponents can make the difference between winning and losing the game.

Heroes, which are single units with very strong attack, life, and armor statistics, can also be purchased as the game progresses. Buying a hero is a high risk gamble with the potential for high rewards. On the one hand, buying and upgrading a hero is a huge investment of money, and a player can quickly fall behind if the hero is unable to kill enough enemy units to make it a profitable investment. On the other hand, experienced players can use heros to literally change the course of battles and almost defeat other players using the hero alone.

The map and game are both popular and constantly rebalanced by the development team behind the game. As a result, in game strategies are constantly changing and the game play is very dynamic.

I would highly recommend this game to Starcraft 2 fans and interested gamers alike.

Natalie Portman -- Annoying Laugh

Have you ever noticed that all hot girls, everywhere, in the entire world, have annoying laughs. This next video from Natalie Portman proves that all people everywhere, including both God and Stephen Hawking, agree that hot girls have annoying laughs.

But, my question to the guys out there is this: would you still date Natalie, even if she laughed like this all the way through sex. For me, the answer is hell yes.

An unusual crash for two race bikes

This is a really funny video that I found on Youtube recently that shows a very unique and funny crash between two motorcycles in an amateur motorcycle race.

I do have to say that the reaction of one of the drivers was pretty funny. At first I thought he was overreacting, until I realized that he probably invested a lot of time and money into prepping that motorcycle for the race and that the crash probably ruined his bankroll. Oh well, these things do happen. If someone wants to race motorcycles, then they have to accept the inevitability of those motorcycles crashing from time to time.

Justin Bieber & Jimmy Fallon Someday Commercial -- Funny

I really had to laugh at this next video. Normally, Justin Bieber just annoys me to no end. I really can't stand his smarmy attitude and perfect hair. However, he did do a good job in this video with Jimmy Fallon where Jimmy is the future Justin Bieber in a parody of a commercial about a fragrance called "Someday".

I wish, just like the past and future Justin, that I could go back in time and talk to my former self too. I would tell him to be careful of women who have a reason to marry you for something other than love. However, none of us get that chance in life.

So, reactions? Good or overrated?

Funny Video: 6 Types of Girls You Date in College

My Favorite GirlsImage by ShaneRobinson via Flickr
Have you ever wondered what kinds of girls you'll date in college? Do you ever wonder what your girlfriends from college will be like? Well, College Humor provides you with some much needed information, via this instructive video.

So, according to college humor, there are 6 types of girls that you'll date in college: the athlete, the partier, the pretty one, the religious one, your best friend, and the perfect one. Watch the video to find out what is wrong with each of those girls and how you'll manage to screw things up.

I think that my favorite girl out of the bunch is the religious one. I have met a few girls in my life with repressed sexual urges courtesy of their childhood faith, and they are even stranger than the girl in the College Humor video. Out of all the girls in the video, you probably want to stay away from them above all else.

Blog Post Frequency: Quantity versus Quality -- The Math

united states currency eye- IMG_7364_webImage by kevindean via Flickr
After doing some research online, I have come across quite a few conflicting articles about whether it is better to have quantity or quality when it comes to posting blog articles. In other words, is it better to post a few very high quality articles, say once per week or so, or is it better to post several lower quality articles instead.

To try and come to a resolution on this point, I thought that I would run through some numbers. Here are my results.

To start out, let me just note that blog traffic can be divided into one of two categories: "front" or "back" end traffic. Now, front end traffic means the traffic that you get each time you post new content. Back end traffic means the content that you get from blog posts that you already posted and forgot about.

So, let's analyze this a bit.

Front end: Using the numbers from my blog, I usually get between 10 and 20 new visitors per post each time I publish. These visitors mostly come from Twitter; although, there are also a smattering of visitors from other social media websites and from search engines.

Back end; I use services like Tweet Random to continually recycle my old posts on Twitter, so my back end traffic is usually pretty good. Between retweeting old articles and some love from the search engines, I manage to generate about 1 visitor per day per two old blog posts. It may not be the greatest rate in the world, but it's much better than when I started blogging.

The Math: So, assuming that I posted 10 times per day with average quality articles and only got 10 visitors per post front end and 1 per every 2 posts per day on the back end, I would average about 250 visitors per day after one month.

By contrast, if I posted once per day and managed to get 30 visitors per article front end and 3 visitors per day per article on the back end, I would only be getting 120 visitors per day after a month.

Admittedly, these numbers are a bit contrived because it's hard to gauge how many extra visitors a "quality" blog post brings in. My experience: not that many more than a quick entry.

At the same time, however, the problem with only trying to post quality articles is that neither you nor I can know for certain which articles are going to attract a lot of visitors. We can both make guesses, and every so often hit a home run; but it's still just a guessing game until one of our articles goes viral on Google.

On the other hand, if we post a lot of quantity articles and the occasional quality article, each article has to carry much less of a load in terms of generating traffic. Note that by quantity, I don't mean posting something on your blog that you could have posted to Twitter instead -- 200 word minimum.

So, in the end, if I had to choose, based on the math I would choose quantity over quality. However, there are quite a few blogs out there to tell me how wrong I am for coming to that decision.

So, what are your thoughts on this? Do you go for quality or quantity on your site? How has each approach affected your traffic?

Looking to Exchange Spots on Blog Roll

Анна ДиамандопулуImage via Wikipedia
I am currently looking to exchange spots on the blog roll of my blog with a similar blog with complimentary subject matter and reasonable traffic. While I am not too picky about what blogs I exchange with, I do have a few requirements:

1. Your blog must generate at least 100+ visitors per day: My blog is currently sitting at about 200-300 visitors per day, and I am planning to increase that as time goes on. So, to be worth my while, your blog needs to have at least 100 visitors per day -- with more being better.

2. The subject matter must be complimentary: Even though I do appreciate all of the hard work that mommy bloggers or makeup tutorial bloggers put into their sites, I am not sure how interested their visitors are going to be in visiting my site. By design, my site tends to appeal to the male crowd, probably in the 15-45 range, with a sprinkling of other demographics thrown in because of the entertainment news and the animal videos. So, please appeal to that demographic.

3. YOU CANNOT BE A SPLOGGER: I felt like I had to put that one in all caps because I really need to emphasize it. Every so often, I will get someone from the Far East (like Indonesia or the Philippines) that wants to exchange blog roll listings with me. When I go to check out their website, the whole thing is a massive advertisement with very little original (or even good) content. If this describes your website, don't bother.

4. You must have the blog roll prominently displayed on your site: My blog roll is pretty far up the side bar on my site. I don't think it's fair to exchange with someone who has their blog roll shoved in the corner of their site somewhere.

5. You must have less than 20 links on your blog roll OR you must have it automatically update to list the blogs that have recently posted at the top: Again, as my blog roll updates to place the most recent entries at the top and it only shows five entries at a time, I think it's unfair to exchange with someone who has 150 blog roll entries and mine is shoved somewhere near the bottom.

6. You must post to your blog regularly: I want some blogs with constant new content in my blog roll. If you only write an entry once every few months or so, it's not going to add anything to my blog content-wise.

If you meet all of these requirements and you're interested in exchanging places on blog rolls, please either leave a comment below or find me on Twitter @futuretwitblog. Thanks.

Review of Microsoft Word 2010 Blog Post Feature

I am actually writing this post, for the first time, on Microsoft 2010. I think that I really like this feature of Word. First off, I notice that it is possible to directly publish to my Blogger account through the "Publish" button under the "Blog Post" menu in the toolbar. This is a nice feature and will save me some hassle from having to copy and paste the text from Word over to the Blogger text editing window. It's a small convenience, but every little bit helps.

The second thing that pops out at me is how much easier it is to edit blog entries using the Word interface than it is to use the Blogger interface. The next features I want to test are whether Word will correctly interpret html code, say from an embedded Youtube video. Here is my test case, which is a kitten falling down a few stairs:

I am a little disappointed that Word doesn't seem to have a built in java interpreter. I will have to see if the video renders correctly when I publish it or not.

The second thing that I want to check is whether pictures are correctly embedded in posts. So, I go over to Flickr and find some pictures of kittens . . .

It looks like I will have to insert the pictures later, through the Blogger interface, because the Word interface doesn't allow me to insert pictures from a website (which is crazy in this age of hyperlinking pictures).

So, overall, I would give the Word Blog Post feature a very marginal rating. I think that it's good for someone who is going to write a long text based article and needs a lot of formatting to make the text look nice. However, in terms of multimedia support, I would give Word a very marginal grade. There is no support for hyperlinking images and no support for java script so that movies, etc. can display real time during the editing process. However, the "Publish as Draft" feature under the "Publish" menu is nice, but it's still only nice because it means that I have a chance to fix my posts before putting them on the internet, which is something I should be able to do OUTSIDE of the blogger interface.

Final analysis: I won't use this feature, unless I am writing a long, text based article.

Bill Maher Invites Obama Impersonator on His Show

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...Image via Wikipedia
Here is a video that I found on Yahoo video that I wanted to share with my readers. Here, an Obama impersonator tells some jokes about the 2012 Republican presidential candidates on the Bill Maher show.

To fill in a little back story, this same impersonator was invited to tell jokes at a fundraiser for the Republican candidates. When he told jokes about the Democrats, the audience laughed. When he started telling jokes about the Republicans, however, he got yanked off the stage.

I think that his jokes are all in good taste and that he is dead on as far as the impersonation goes. If the Republicans don't like him, it's because they don't have a sense of humor. However, I think that goes without saying when it comes to Republicans.

Biggest domino pyramid ever... almost

Just like the video says, two guys spent over 4 months constructing this awesome pyramid of dominoes, only to be thwarted at the last minute. Warning: is very painful to watch if you have even a shred of empathy.

Double Six Professional Dominoes with Brass Spinner in Wooden Case 28 PieceAll I have to say is that failure in constructing the dominoes pyramid is epic. What's worse is that the guys spent so long, over 4 months from the sources I read, to construct it. I mean, if you spend an afternoon building something and it breaks, fine. If you spend 4 months building something and it breaks, you feel a bit worse.

I just hope that the guys don't give up and persevere until they set a new world record for the largest domino pyramid. After all, the world can always use more entries in the Guinness Book of World Records. If people can grow out their finger nails to be longer than a car, why not a person who spend all of his or her time playing with dominoes?

Stephen Colbert: Jesus vs. Thor -- Funny

So, if you had to pick the coolest god out there, would it be Jesus or Thor? Stephen Colbert attempts to answer exactly this question in a rib tickling video from The Colbert Report-- "Yahwey or No Way: Jesus vs. Thor".

ThorOkay, so on Colbert's arbitrary index of awesomeness, Jesus is clearly the coolest God out there. However, I think that some more arguments could have been made for Thor. For one, historically Jesus was celibate. While this definitely makes Jesus the winner as far as purity is concerned, it also means that he probably had a lot of lonely nights during his 33 year lifespan.

Thor, on the other hand, was free to get it on with as many ladies as he could get. I don't know about you, but if I was a god, I would be awfully tempted by some of that fine mortal tail. On that fact alone, I think that Thor should be a winner, but I realize that the subject is open to debate.

So, which do you think is the coolest God out there -- Thor or Jesus?

Cat Chills on Couch and Watches Slayer

I have to say that this is one cool cat! Check out this cool video of a cat that is leaning back on the sofa, chilling to a music video of Slayer. It's both cute and funny.

Slacker Cat Watches Slayer - Watch more Funny Videos

I think that this video goes on to define a whole new meaning for the phrase "cool cat". This cat is about as cool as they come!

From my experiences of having cats as pets when I was younger, I realized that ever cat out there is different. All of them have different personalities, just like humans do. Some cats love to run and play all day, some like to explore places, and some -- like this character -- like to veg out in front of the tube and check out music videos.

I guess it just depends on what the cat drags in.

Love the city life

Guest post of the week by Moises Henderson

Working and living in the city has been quite a challenge, but it's one on up for. I really like being right in the heart of things, even if that means my mortgage is a little higher and my place is a little less safe. The latter was solved easily by getting a home security alarm after some research on HOMEsecurity101.com. The high mortgage I can't really do anything about, but I feel like the invaluables I get from living so close to things like the subway and great shopping really help add up. Luckily for me, my boyfriend needed to find a new place at the same exact time I did, so we ended up buying this apartment together and work out really well. I've been is lower and we really enjoy living together… It was a win-win for everyone involved! I don't know if there's anything anyone could do or say to get me out of this city. I'm definitely not a country girl at heart, even though my mother would tell you the opposite!

Simon's Cat in 'Hidden Treasure'

This video is a cute animation courtesy of the simonscat channel on Youtube featuring a bachelor and his cat. Watch what happens as the man throws a ball for the cat to chase under the refrigerator.

I have to say that, although the animation is a bit primitive, it works for the video. I see this as an improvement on other cartoons, like Garfield, that also play off the theme of someone interacting with their pets.

Garfield Fat Cat Volume 1I also checked out some of the other videos on the same Youtube channel while I was there, and they're all quite funny as well. Considering that the artist's Youtube channel has well over 100 million hits, I am guessing that the secret is already out. Still, it's nice to find another quality channel on Youtube for entertaining videos, even if I am the last one to find out about it.

I am also guessing that, with over 100 million channel views, the author has been well rewarded for his efforts. I think that the Youtube partners program, from what I've heard, averages something like two dollars per thousand views, so this guy should be making a healthy living off his animation.
