2nd Debate 2012: Better Job, Mr. President

I just wanted to write a quick note to my readers. After the first U.S. presidential debate, I criticized President Obama for his performance. Even though I am a fan of his and voted for him during the first election, I thought he was timid and didn't challenge Governor Romney on claims that he made.

Tonight, Obama did a much better job. He was confident, fiery, and he challenged Romney on claims that he made. Whether this leads to him winning the election is still to be seen (as of the writing of this post). In either case, he did much better tonight.

What are your thoughts?

Thoughts on "Big Bird" and Mitt Romney Meme -- Why the Media Sucks

Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts,...
Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, 2008 US presidential candidate. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The media sucks. It really does.

To preface this, let me just say that I am voting for Barack Obama. I think that he has done a decent job for the four years he's been in office, I think that he'll do a decent job if voted in again, and -- as I am a democrat -- I don't see a compelling reason to switch teams and vote for Mitt Romney.

Having said that, the media really does suck when it comes to coverage of political events. For my international readers, the first 2012 United States Presidential Debate was last night between incumbent Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney. A lot of things were said about each candidate's vision for the U.S. economy, social security, jobs, and government programs -- important things which could help shape life in the U.S. for the next four years.

And then there was a comment made about Big Bird.

That's right, out of all of the things the media could focus on from the debate, somehow an off-the-cuff comment by Mitt Romney that he would cut funding to PBS and thereby cut funding for programs like Sesame Street (and Big Bird) was somehow the item that made the cut, that the media is running wild with at the moment.

I hate to invoke the whole media conspiracy angle to this, but I can see how my friends on the right could conclude this. According to most polls of viewers watching the debate, Obama got his clock cleaned by Romney. Obama was passive, distant, and seemingly confused at times about issues about which he should be very passionate. Romney, on the other hand was confident, aggressive, and presidential. Even so, much of the media has chosen to ignore this performance and seize onto the minor gaffe Romney made about Big Bird, mentioned above. The bandwagon feel of it all has been so widespread, so universal, that it really does make me wonder if there is something deeper going on with the different media outlets.

Or maybe I'm giving the media too much credit. Maybe they're just a bunch of idiots that like to laugh at the same shallow, insipid jokes.

In any case, I would be much more impressed if the media was calling out Romney for things that he obviously lied about, like the fact that he can somehow make massive cuts to taxes for the rich AND not increase the deficit by closing 5 trillion dollars worth of loopholes (over 10 years). Not only is it idiotic to suppose that there is 5 trillion dollars worth of slack in the U.S. budget, but closing loopholes, as Romney calls them, would include things like not allowing rich people to write off taxes for mortgage interest and charitable deductions -- which is the same as raising the tax rate. So, what Romney is doing is the classic Ponzi scheme of shifting the money around to make it look like something is happening that is not.

I wish the media would call out Romney on that.

Instead, we have Big Bird jokes, as posted here on my blog.

Idiots.

We should go back to the better days of Obama girl.

Breaking News: Lone Gun Walks into a Bar, Kills Fifty

Breaking News: Lone Gun Walks into a Bar, Kills Fifty

A lone gun, depressed about the prospects of new gun control, has walked into a suburban bar, killing 50 and wounding 127 more. Police have refused to release a statement, pending the notification of the families of the victims.

“It was horrific,” recounted one woman. “One moment, the gun was just sitting there on the table. The next, it was wildly flying around in the air, shooting everyone and everything that moved. I even saw it jump up, fly around the room in a private helicopter, and shoot people from the sky. I was completely terrified.

John Crackernuts, spokesperson for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun violence, observed, “This is yet another instance of guns acting out violently. When is America going to wake up and realize that these guns need to be controlled so that the killing will stop? After all, it is the gun’s fault in situations like this one. The gun acted on its own, as is always the case – autonomously. It just flew through the air killing people, just like what has happened in every shooting before and will happen again unless we start executing people who want to buy guns.”

The official spokesperson of the NRA, the ghost of Charlton Heston, had this to say about the shooting, “The problem is not that we need fewer guns on the street but more guns, more and more guns. We need guns in the schools, guns in the bars, guns on the sidewalks, even guns in the nursery. Hell, if I go to a school and don’t see a bazooka in the hands of every toddler, I get a little worried. What if one some rogue bazooka decides to shoot up the school? Who will protect our little ones if not other bazookas at the school? If you want to take the bazooka from my toddler, you will have to take it out of his cold dead hands! Oh … I mean mine … or something.”

When President Obama was asked about the incident, he remarked, “Well, uh, I uh, feel that, uh, we should, uh, evaluate, uh, the options, uh, that we, uh, have available, uh, in this, uh, situation, uh, and, uh, act, uh, accordingly. I mean, uh, on the one hand, uh, there, uh, is a, uh, need to, uh, have greater, uh, gun control, uh, but, uh, at, uh, the same time, uh, we, uh, should, uh, respect, uh, the rights, uh, of citizens, uh, uh, uh, uh, …” At this point, the president seemed to have a meltdown and was sent back to the factory for further repairs.

Unfortunately, Mitt Romney has gained the trait of “drooling moron” and thus could not be reached for comment.

Also present in the bar was a young white male intent on doing people in the bar bodily harm. When questioned, police blamed his murderous aspirations on the media, the Batman movies, video games, his psychiatrist, Marilyn Manson, his parents, the NRA, the liberals, the conservatives, face paint, medical school, and global warming.

Stephen Colbert on Jon McNaughton

If you spend enough time in the world of Facebook, you are bound to find at least one looney, ultra-right-wing Republican that thinks President Obama is the anti-Christ. Until recently, however, these crazies weren't producing their own artwork. Then, along came Jon McNaughton.

For those of you who are fortunate to not have heard of Jon McNaughton ... consider yourselves lucky. He is a guy that makes a living off of producing cheap, crappy "art" which depicts Obama (among other things) as burning the constitution while the founding fathers look on in horror (mostly at that uppity Negro ...).

Here is Colbert's take on the situation.

Cute punk rock girl spikes Mormon!

Watch as this super cute punk rock girls spikes some Mormon missionaries outside her house.

I love their reaction to her as she tried to hug them. Instead of backing her away, the missionary should have grabbed a handful and hung on.

This same girl actually has a pretty cool video of her spiking Obama.

I think she has a girl crush on Obama.

At GOP Leadership Conference, Obama Impersonator Tells Racist Jokes?

So, does the Obama impersonator at this conference actually tell racist jokes? Well, not from what I could see. But, the person who came up with the title for the video certainly seemed to think that he was telling them. Watch the video and judge for yourself.

To me, the jokes were funny but not particularly "racist". What do my readers think?

Bill Maher Invites Obama Impersonator on His Show

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...Image via Wikipedia
Here is a video that I found on Yahoo video that I wanted to share with my readers. Here, an Obama impersonator tells some jokes about the 2012 Republican presidential candidates on the Bill Maher show.

To fill in a little back story, this same impersonator was invited to tell jokes at a fundraiser for the Republican candidates. When he told jokes about the Democrats, the audience laughed. When he started telling jokes about the Republicans, however, he got yanked off the stage.

I think that his jokes are all in good taste and that he is dead on as far as the impersonation goes. If the Republicans don't like him, it's because they don't have a sense of humor. However, I think that goes without saying when it comes to Republicans.

President Obama a Muslim? Osama Bin Laden Thought So!

Osama bin Laden thanks America for Barack Obam...Image by Zooomabooma via Flickr
Even though there has been a lot of buzz lately about Osama Bin Laden's porn stash in his compound in Pakistan, I think that the media is downplaying the most interesting fact learned from the raid: that Osama Bin Laden considered President Barack Obama a muslim. Watch the video below (or fast forward to 3:24 if you want to see the pertinent quote).

I especially like the disclaimer of, "Even though Barack Obama is a Christian . . .". Feeling the need to hide something possibly, eh news media? I mean, it's not like someone with the middle name Hussein who went to school in Indonesia for four years that offered religious instruction in Islam each day could POSSIBLY be mistaken by the Muslim world as one of their own. Nope, never.

So, carry on, President Osama . . .

Er, I mean, President Obama.

Arizona Redneck Videos: Economy,anti-Redneck Discrimination, Illegal Immigration, Obama

If you haven't checked out these videos before, a character actor by the name of Moppix does some hilarious impersonations of racist "rednecks" from Arizona on his Youtube channel. Below, I have included his videos of the "redneck philosophy" about the economy, discrimination (against rednecks), illegal immigrants, and Obama. In any case, check out all of the videos below.

1. First, here is his take on the economy:

2. His video on discrimination against rednecks:

Here is his video about illegal imigration:

His video about Obama:

If you have ever found yourself saying any of the things on this video WITHOUT joking, please do the world a favor and don't pass on your seed to the next generation. Thanks.

Analysis: President Obama - Bill O'Reilly Interview: Super Bowl Sunday 2010

Here is my analysis of an interested interview between Bill O'Reilly and President Barack Obama from February 2010 during the pregame show for the Superbowl. My comments are below the video.

Overall, I was impressed with the interview. Bill was a bit softer on Obama than he might have otherwise been (especially compared with this interview from 2008) but I thought that he asked just enough tough questions at the first to make the interview interesting. The one question that I wish he would have asked Obama but didn't was about the move by the Obama administration during the first two years of office away from the Bush era policy of challenging dictatorships and promoting democracy around the world. I felt that O'Reilly could have made the point that the U.S. could have been much more active in promoting change in Egypt and other places before 2010 than they ultimately ended up being.

The second part of the interview was refreshingly light. Too often, interviews with the president focus on the difficult political questions faced every day as a part of the job description and on not much else. While I'm not advocating throwing "soft ball" questions to politicians as a matter of course, sometimes it's nice to see the media call back the attack dogs a bit when dealing with these issues. I like that Bill gave Obama a chance to explain how hard the decisions are that he makes on a daily basis. As Obama notes, people have to have a thick skin to survive the election process and become president.

What do you think? Please leave your comments below.

How to NOT get your edit reverted in Wikipedia

We've all had it happen. We find an article on Wikipedia in an area that we are "experts" in (at least in our own minds), pour over said article and make countless carefully worded changes (well sourced by the first page of a Google search), only to have all of our changes reverted by some damned 15 year old working from his Mom's basement or some self-styled "professor" who make it his life's work to "protect" the Wiki article on Che Guevara. How did this happen to you? What went wrong? Is this kid a blithering idiot?

Here are some steps to take to make sure this doesn't happen to you:

1. Lean Left

With the rare exception of an occasional (and usually outgunned) conservative here or there on Wikipedia, most of the editors tend to lean left of center, left of Barak Obama, and sometimes even left of Marx -- the philosopher, not the brothers. So, the easiest way to go, unless you're a gluton for punishment, is with the flow far, far, far into the wide fields of leftist philosophies. Then, you too can idolize the "Che" and make subtly demeaning comments about George Bush, all with the rousing support of your fellow Wiki editors.

2. Hate God

The cool new trend of the day is for "intelligent" people everywhere to bash religion, either subtly or outright, in internet blog, message boards, and especially in edits on good old Wikipedia. Sometimes this criticism is valid, sometimes not -- but in any case, it is always very welcome from Wiki's diligent editors. If ever you want one of your edits to stand, say something controversial about God, especially if it's the Christian God.

3. Burn Time

The equation is simple: the more time you can force your opposition to waste trying to revert your edits, the more chance you have that they won't be reverted! Start out by stalling. If someone reverts you once, revert them back immediately. If they revert you twice, revert back the third time and, before they can use their third revert, demand a discussion on the talk page to avert an "edit war". If you can, make the page protected right after your third revert. Demand a list of sources from the reverting editor disproving your assertion. Be sure to back up yours with a lot of print sources (not internet ones -- to easy for the other editor to look up), especially sources that are hard for most people to get (i.e. from a university library). Demand a RfC (reader's forum comments, or something like that). Above all, stall! If you can keep from getting your changes reverted initially, time is your friend.

4. Play Dirty

If stalling doesn't work, it's time to pull out the big guns. Start off by claiming anything you can on the part of the other editor that would suggest "bad faith". Blow innocent statements out of context. Claim vandalism. Threaten to get the administrators involved or, better yet (if you're an administrator), threaten to suspend the other editor's account or IP address.

If that doesn't work, claim "sock puppetry" from the other editor (as long as there are at least two editors working against you on the project). You can also try some sock puppetry of your own. Try to create multiple accounts (each from a different IP address -- vacations are good for this) and use each one to support your point of view. Make sure that the points raised by each one, along with the style of writing, etc., are different enough that you won't be found out. Above all, try to wear down the moral of all who oppose you!

5. Be Persistent

If none of these tactics work, be patient and persistent. Did you get reverted for a change 3 months ago? How about if you try it again. The worst thing that could happen is that you get reverted again. At best, the your nemesis has lost interest and stopped watching the page in question.

I hope that this give you at least a few ideas on how to not get your Wikipedia edits reverted. If you have some more ideas or tactics that have worked for you in the past, please feel free to add them in the comments section.

Uncle Obama Wants You . . . To Be Gay!!!

Obama is at it again. Not content with destroying our national economy, our health care system, and turning the children of the nation into communists, Obama has now decided to destroy the last moral bastion of our society -- the God given right of people everywhere to hate fags. During his most recent attempt to pander to their vote, he "backed up" Lady Gaga (had to be him -- no other guy would do it) by telling Sodomites everywhere that he would be proud to let gays into the military, to get boyfriends, if nothing else.

We here at Future Twits were able to capture the Twitters of all the Twits at that convention for later publication on our website. We've compiled this into a series of videos that we hope will spark some serious discussion about the issue.

1. Barack Obama comments on Ellen about the rally.

2. Barack political speech about gay rights.

3. More Barack gay activism

4. Muppets teach gay marriage to kids.

5. Westboro Baptist Church weighs in

6. Arkon University students debate gay rights

I hope that these videos have contributed to this important debate.

Silly faggots. Dicks are for chicks!

Homosexual Sweeds and the Nobel Peace Prize

Good ol' Hussein has done it again! With the help of his friends, the homosexual Sweeds, the president has managed to win the Nobel Peace Prize -- the top honor of any aspiring communist, former terrorist (Nelson Mandela) or envirojunkie. We here at Future Twits would like to congratulate Obama with a photo tribute to his many great accomplishments towards peace since entering office.

1. Addition of 7 more states to the Union

2. First annual White House "beer summit"

3. Trillion dollar Christmas gift to bankers

4. Stammering his way through speeches

For comparison, here is the last idiot president stammering through speeches

5. Calling Hollywood celebrities that he's never met a "jackass"

And, I'm out of ideas. That was a short entry.

Maybe some filler video of classic pin up girls?
