Joe Biden -- Crying Baby Meme

Since I've uploaded a couple of memes ribbing Romney, I thought that I would upload one making fun of Biden on the democrat side.

Honestly, I don't care who wins the election anymore. Both of the candidates kind of suck. So, these two are the best that American could come up with? Sad.

2nd Debate 2012: Better Job, Mr. President

I just wanted to write a quick note to my readers. After the first U.S. presidential debate, I criticized President Obama for his performance. Even though I am a fan of his and voted for him during the first election, I thought he was timid and didn't challenge Governor Romney on claims that he made.

Tonight, Obama did a much better job. He was confident, fiery, and he challenged Romney on claims that he made. Whether this leads to him winning the election is still to be seen (as of the writing of this post). In either case, he did much better tonight.

What are your thoughts?

Thoughts on "Big Bird" and Mitt Romney Meme -- Why the Media Sucks

Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts,...

The media sucks. It really does.

To preface this, let me just say that I am voting for Barack Obama. I think that he has done a decent job for the four years he's been in office, I think that he'll do a decent job if voted in again, and -- as I am a democrat -- I don't see a compelling reason to switch teams and vote for Mitt Romney.

Having said that, the media really does suck when it comes to coverage of political events. For my international readers, the first 2012 United States Presidential Debate was last night between incumbent Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney. A lot of things were said about each candidate's vision for the U.S. economy, social security, jobs, and government programs -- important things which could help shape life in the U.S. for the next four years.

And then there was a comment made about Big Bird.

That's right, out of all of the things the media could focus on from the debate, somehow an off-the-cuff comment by Mitt Romney that he would cut funding to PBS and thereby cut funding for programs like Sesame Street (and Big Bird) was somehow the item that made the cut, that the media is running wild with at the moment.

I hate to invoke the whole media conspiracy angle to this, but I can see how my friends on the right could conclude this. According to most polls of viewers watching the debate, Obama got his clock cleaned by Romney. Obama was passive, distant, and seemingly confused at times about issues about which he should be very passionate. Romney, on the other hand was confident, aggressive, and presidential. Even so, much of the media has chosen to ignore this performance and seize onto the minor gaffe Romney made about Big Bird, mentioned above. The bandwagon feel of it all has been so widespread, so universal, that it really does make me wonder if there is something deeper going on with the different media outlets.

Or maybe I'm giving the media too much credit. Maybe they're just a bunch of idiots that like to laugh at the same shallow, insipid jokes.

In any case, I would be much more impressed if the media was calling out Romney for things that he obviously lied about, like the fact that he can somehow make massive cuts to taxes for the rich AND not increase the deficit by closing 5 trillion dollars worth of loopholes (over 10 years). Not only is it idiotic to suppose that there is 5 trillion dollars worth of slack in the U.S. budget, but closing loopholes, as Romney calls them, would include things like not allowing rich people to write off taxes for mortgage interest and charitable deductions -- which is the same as raising the tax rate. So, what Romney is doing is the classic Ponzi scheme of shifting the money around to make it look like something is happening that is not.

I wish the media would call out Romney on that.

Instead, we have Big Bird jokes, as posted here on my blog.

Idiots.

We should go back to the better days of Obama girl.

Breaking News: Lone Gun Walks into a Bar, Kills Fifty

Breaking News: Lone Gun Walks into a Bar, Kills Fifty

A lone gun, depressed about the prospects of new gun control, has walked into a suburban bar, killing 50 and wounding 127 more. Police have refused to release a statement, pending the notification of the families of the victims.

“It was horrific,” recounted one woman. “One moment, the gun was just sitting there on the table. The next, it was wildly flying around in the air, shooting everyone and everything that moved. I even saw it jump up, fly around the room in a private helicopter, and shoot people from the sky. I was completely terrified.

John Crackernuts, spokesperson for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun violence, observed, “This is yet another instance of guns acting out violently. When is America going to wake up and realize that these guns need to be controlled so that the killing will stop? After all, it is the gun’s fault in situations like this one. The gun acted on its own, as is always the case – autonomously. It just flew through the air killing people, just like what has happened in every shooting before and will happen again unless we start executing people who want to buy guns.”

The official spokesperson of the NRA, the ghost of Charlton Heston, had this to say about the shooting, “The problem is not that we need fewer guns on the street but more guns, more and more guns. We need guns in the schools, guns in the bars, guns on the sidewalks, even guns in the nursery. Hell, if I go to a school and don’t see a bazooka in the hands of every toddler, I get a little worried. What if one some rogue bazooka decides to shoot up the school? Who will protect our little ones if not other bazookas at the school? If you want to take the bazooka from my toddler, you will have to take it out of his cold dead hands! Oh … I mean mine … or something.”

When President Obama was asked about the incident, he remarked, “Well, uh, I uh, feel that, uh, we should, uh, evaluate, uh, the options, uh, that we, uh, have available, uh, in this, uh, situation, uh, and, uh, act, uh, accordingly. I mean, uh, on the one hand, uh, there, uh, is a, uh, need to, uh, have greater, uh, gun control, uh, but, uh, at, uh, the same time, uh, we, uh, should, uh, respect, uh, the rights, uh, of citizens, uh, uh, uh, uh, …” At this point, the president seemed to have a meltdown and was sent back to the factory for further repairs.

Unfortunately, Mitt Romney has gained the trait of “drooling moron” and thus could not be reached for comment.

Also present in the bar was a young white male intent on doing people in the bar bodily harm. When questioned, police blamed his murderous aspirations on the media, the Batman movies, video games, his psychiatrist, Marilyn Manson, his parents, the NRA, the liberals, the conservatives, face paint, medical school, and global warming.

Mitt Romney Had Poopy Diapers -- Would Make a Bad President

Governor Mitt Romney of MA

Just when you thought that the latest Mitt Romney bullying scandal was shocking enough, even more bad news has emerged from the history of this evil man. News outlets are now reporting that Mitt Romney is alleged to have had poopy diapers as a toddler.

When asked about this incident, Mr. Romney side-stepped the question. "My infancy is a long time ago," said Mr. Romney. "While I can't say categorically that I never had poopy diapers, I can say that sounds like something I wouldn't do. Pooping is bad for the economy, and I am all about the economy."

"He is obfuscating," famed internet blogger and blowhard Perez Hilton is alleged to have said in reply. "I just find it completely hypocritical that he would criticize people for their choice of anal activities when he himself was at one time an active participant in anal excretions."

"Now, what we have to remember here is that ... I personally, speaking for myself on this matter, think that it's okay to poop in a diaper," allegedly said President Obama when asked about the incident during a White House press conference. When pressed further, the President denied connections to a pushing incident with a constipated girl in Indonesia. "She was the only other black girl in my school, and I knew that she had constipation," President Obama admitted during the interview. "However, what I did was not a hate crime. It had nothing to do with her being black ... or with her lacking the ability to pass fecal matter."

Uncle Henry from the Romney family also weighed in on the incident. "Mitt pooping as a child really got to me later in life. Just having to smell that disgusting odor made me turn to a life of crime and shoe fetishes from which I have never recovered. Consequently, is that man wearing a size 5?"

7 Places to Discuss The Mormon Church

The Book of Mormon. Another Testament of Jesus...Image via Wikipedia
With the popularity of the Book of Mormon musical on Broadway and the prominence of Mormon public figures, including Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, and Harry Reid, a lot of people are anxious to know more about the teachings and culture of the Mormon church. In this post, I list seven places where the curious, whether novice or someone who grep up in the Mormon church, and go to discuss all things Mormon.

1. Mormondiscussions.com

This message board is mostly populated by ex-Mormons and lapsed Mormons, although some prominent Mormon figures (including Dr. Daniel Peterson from the FARMS institute at BYU) do crop up on the board from time to time. Also, a lot of atheists and never-Mormons tend to participate in the discussions as well.

Go there if: You want to hear about the seedier side of Mormon history or for more of a scholarly discussion about the Mormon faith.

2. Mormondialogue.org

The board is about equally divided between defenders of the Mormon faith and critics. It also had participation from notable Mormon apologists, although the discussion tends to be much more heavily moderated than on other boards and tends to gravitate towards a faith promoting conclusion.

Go here if: You want to discuss or learn about the apologetic defenses and counterarguments for more complex Mormon doctrines.

3. Mormon.org/chat

This is the official site of the Mormon church where you'll be able to talk one-on-one with a Mormon missionary about the basic doctrines of the church. Run by Mormon missionaries working from a training center in Northern Utah, this site is about as faith promoting of the Mormon perspective as you can get.

Go here if: You want to learn about the basic doctrines of the Mormon church from a pro-Mormon perspective.

4. lds.net/forums:

The discussion on this site tends to be quite pro-Mormon, although a few more critical posters pop up on it from time to time. The conversation tends to focus much more on the daily routines and culture of Mormonism and much less on the doctrines.

Go here if: You're a believing Mormon and you want advice about cultural or spiritual issues or have funny anecdotes to share.

5. www.mormoncurtain.com/section_forums:

Patronized almost exclusively by ex and disaffected Mormons this is the board where the most hardcore detractors of the Mormon church tend to accumulate to discuss feelings or frustrations about the Mormon faith, including historical and doctrinal problems and complains in general.

Go here if: You don't like the Mormon church and you want the world to know!

6. forum.newordermormon.org:

The following for this board usually consists of people disaffected with the Mormon church (New Order Mormons) who want to stay members for familial or cultural reasons. The conversation tends to center around supporting disaffected Mormons in their decisions, along with side discussions of cultural and doctrinal issues, usually from a position of ambivalence to somewhat antagonistic.

Go here if: You're a Mormon who has stopped believing in the Mormon church but you wish to remain a member of the faith.

7. http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Christianity/Latter-Day-Saints/

This is another message board that tends to be somewhere between the New Order Mormons and the Mormon Dialogue message boards in tone towards the Mormon church. The discussions tend to revolve around both culture and doctrinal issues.

Go here if: You want yet another message board to discuss the Mormon faith.

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, here is a sample of the hilarious Book of Mormon Broadway play:
