John Safran Atheist door knocking skit
If you've ever followed the comedy of John Safran, then you know that he's an atheist comedian extraordinaire. However, nothing gets his blood boiling -- and releases his comedic genius -- like a couple of Mormon missionaries waking him up on a Saturday afternoon.
His revenge? He decides to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah and give the Mormons a taste of their own medicine: by knocking on their doors and teaching them about the truth of Charles Darwin and atheism!
I think that my favorite part of the clip is when the guy says, "I'm a Mormon bishop." Like that's supposed to mean something to John Safran and crew.
But, Mormons aren't all bad. Here are a few sexy Mormon missionary girls for your enjoyment.

Will the Mormon church ever cease to exist?
Image via Wikipedia1. Statistically speaking, most religions that people have ever believed in have gone "extinct", just like most species that have ever existed on the earth are now extinct. Based on sheer probability alone, the chances of the Mormon religion surviving another 500 or 1000 years are pretty slim.
2. I think that all religions are in trouble of extinction due to advancements in science. To me, the push of science will continue to constrict the space that religion is able to exist in until most of the supernatural parts of religion are eliminated. It used to be that people accepted religion because they wanted answers: why do we have lighting? why do people do bad things? what happens when we die? Before science, the only source of the tough answers to questions like these was from religion. Now, we have already answered many of these questions, including the one about lighting. And, we're on the cusp of answering many more of these question.
A specific example of this that I'm reminded of comes from FMRI studies of the brain. The amount that this field has progressed in the last 10 years or so is astonishing, and it continues to advance every day. Among other things, scientist who study the brain using FMRI (among whom I have many colleagues) have been able to show quantitative differences in the brains of people with autism, depression, and schizophrenia. Remarkably, scientists have even been able to show differences in the brains of people with conditions once ascribed to "personal choice", like sexual promiscuity -- which calls into question how much conscious control people have over conditions like sexual addiction.
The point is that, as more and more of these questions -- particularly moral ones -- end up with scientific answers, religion is going to have a harder and harder time finding a niche, especially as this information is made increasingly accessible to the public and the public in general becomes better educated (especially in developing nations).
3. The Mormon church has the unique and undesirable position of having it's origins in recent history. While other religions, like the Protestants and general Christianity, have the cloak of time to protect them somewhat from scrutiny, most of the events of the Mormon origin story happened recently enough that written records were prevalent.
So, my guess is that Mormonism will one day cease to exist. It will be interesting to see if time proves me wrong or right.

I love their reaction to her as she tried to hug them. Instead of backing her away, the missionary should have grabbed a handful and hung on.

Want To Stun The Mormon Missionaries? Send Out Your Sister in a Bikini!
So, just like the title of this post says, the Mormon missionaries get stunned here when they knock on the door to a house and a really hot girl answers the door and starts talking to them in a bikini. Even though the angle isn't that great, the looks on their faces are priceless.
Knowing Mormon missionaries like I do, I am sure that this was a story that was often repeated to friends and family when they got home.
As for the girl, I wonder what her telephone number is.

54 Ways to Piss Off An Atheist
Just to appease the theists, I've decided to post this video of 54 ways to piss off an atheist. I hope that you enjoy it.

Atheists: How many times have you heard these arguments?
I suspect that it's a lot. Having been on both sides of the fence (atheist, former theist and Christian) I have heard or used all of these arguments at one time or another.
As a side note, based on reason 54, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy who made this video is Mormon or at least knows some Mormons. That point, about having a Protestant religion founded in the 19th century be the "only true way", was probably directed straight at them.

Tony Awards 2011 - The Book of Mormon - I Believe - Andrew Rannells - HD...
Here is the best song from the winner of 9 Tony awards in 2011: Book of Mormon: "I believe".
The funny thing about the song, at least to me, is that it very accurately and succinctly describes some of the stranger beliefs of the Mormon church. The LDS church does believe that God lives on a planet named Kolob, that faithful members will someday get a planet of their own, and that God DID change his mind about black people in 1978. The only thing that was a little questionable from the video was whether Jesus gets his own planet as well, but it's a reasonable inference from the fact that God has his own planet.

7 Places to Discuss The Mormon Church

This message board is mostly populated by ex-Mormons and lapsed Mormons, although some prominent Mormon figures (including Dr. Daniel Peterson from the FARMS institute at BYU) do crop up on the board from time to time. Also, a lot of atheists and never-Mormons tend to participate in the discussions as well.
Go there if: You want to hear about the seedier side of Mormon history or for more of a scholarly discussion about the Mormon faith.

The board is about equally divided between defenders of the Mormon faith and critics. It also had participation from notable Mormon apologists, although the discussion tends to be much more heavily moderated than on other boards and tends to gravitate towards a faith promoting conclusion.
Go here if: You want to discuss or learn about the apologetic defenses and counterarguments for more complex Mormon doctrines.
3. Mormon.org/chat
This is the official site of the Mormon church where you'll be able to talk one-on-one with a Mormon missionary about the basic doctrines of the church. Run by Mormon missionaries working from a training center in Northern Utah, this site is about as faith promoting of the Mormon perspective as you can get.
Go here if: You want to learn about the basic doctrines of the Mormon church from a pro-Mormon perspective.

The discussion on this site tends to be quite pro-Mormon, although a few more critical posters pop up on it from time to time. The conversation tends to focus much more on the daily routines and culture of Mormonism and much less on the doctrines.

BYU dancer 'counseled' for showing too much skin on SYTYCD

This competitor on So You Think You Can Dance was actually "counseled" by his church (the Mormons) after he wore a "skimpy" outfit to perform a modern dance piece. If contemporary dance is such a threat to BYU, maybe they should just put everyone in the university in burqa, lest the image of the human body offends their god/gods. The video clip is in the link (unable to embed, sorry).
It's instances like this where I think BYU gets its reputation for being a stodgy and overbearing school. Making sure that people don't drink or have extra-marital sex is one thing. Criticizing one of your student athletes for their costume during a competition is another. Every time I think that BYU can't get any lamer, they surprise me yet again.

Children begging for food -- call to action
I found some very sad videos on Youtube of homeless children begging on the streets for food, and I thought that I would share them with the world so that more people would see them. Here is the first video of children begging in Indonesia:
One of the comments that I found the most regrettable about all of this is when someone from Indonesia said that, in essence, these children are born this way, they will live this way, and they will die this way with no opportunity for advancement.
