Heroic Crowd Lift Burning Car Off Man
This is a video from 2011 that shows a heroic crowd lifting a car off a trapped man in Utah. The back story here is that the man was trapped under the car after a crash between his motorcycle and the car in the video. The actions of the crowd probably saved the man's life, and he was immensely grateful.

Cool Science: Robots Playing Shuffleboard, Throw Eggs
I found this video on Youtube, and I thought that it was so amazing that I had to share it with everyone. Here you have some teams from Oregon State University that actually have built a robot (more like a computer controlled puck launcher) to play the famous retiree game of shuffleboard.
It's impossible to tell exactly how good the robots are, but they're probably better than I am -- considering I've never played before.
In a lot of ways, it's pretty amazing how far computer and robot technology have advanced in the last 20 years. Science is really starting to do even more amazing things. Even though this is a cute example of artificial intelligence, similar robots and similar competitions take place in mechanical engineering departments in colleges all across the country.
Here is an example from the University of Utah where students built a robot to throw eggs into a basket.
In some ways, the University of Utah robots are even more impressive than the robots that play shuffleboard because of the delicate touch that is required when handling an egg.
So, what does the future hold for humanity? I think that I agree with Ken Jennings, Jeopardy player extraordinare that, "I for one welcome our new computer overlords."(i.e. Watson)

Stephen Colbert's commentary on Utah Law That Allows Cat Decapitations
I just had to share this funny clip from a recent episode of the Colbert Report where Stephen makes fun of a proposed law in Utah about the treatment of feral animals. To bring my readers up to speed on this, Utah has proposed a law that would allow people with a "reasonable suspicion" that a cat or dog is feral to kill that dog "humanely". Interestingly enough, humanely, as defined in the bill, could include methods such as decapitation or clubbing the animal in the head.
If you think that this is a sick way to treat animals and a sure path to idiots killing their neighbors' pets, you're not alone. The bill has created widespread outrage across the country from animal rights activists and concerned citizens alike. However, in his commentary, Colbert "defends" the Utah bill and talks about how the movement to club animals to death might be misunderstood by the public.
Here is his take:
What do you think? Is the law sick, wrong, or simply misunderstood?

UTES ARE MOVIN' ON UP!!! -- Song & Music
Being a Utah Utes fan, I thought that I would post this video (Jeffersons style) as a way to say goodbye to BYU and all of the unpleasant things that come with that school. BYU -- enjoy your time as an "independent" :) I'm sure that my Utes will enjoy their time in the Pac 12 :P

Utah vs BYU: A Parent's Dilemma (60 sec.)
This has to be one of the best funny videos or parodies about the BYU vs. Utah rivalry that I've ever seen. It's so good, in fact, that I am going to share it with you, my loyal readers, on my blog. The sad thing about the video though is that the reaction from the BYU fan parents is only slightly exaggerated. Awesome parody though!
