Radley Balko on the 3 Worst Cases of Police Abuse in 2011

The title says it all: the worst cases of police abuse in 2011, as documented on Youtube.

I really wish that incidents where a civilian is wrongfully killed by a police officer would be as vigorously prosecuted and punished by the courts as when the reverse happens. In theory, police are punished if they kill an innocent person. In practice ... I would say they tend to get away with it more often than not, or at least get a slap on the wrist.

This is especially true considering that a civilian shooting a police officer is pretty much a death sentence.

Naked robber chased by police dog

I am not sure what my favorite part of the next video is. It's a toss up between the hilarity of seeing a naked man running down the street in the middle of a crowded city or the dead pan voice with which the British man narrates the whole circus.

Leave a comment and tell me your favorite part of the video below.

Police Wives: What We Really Do

I found another cool meme, this time about police wives and what they really do. The categories are: "What my mother thinks I do", "What my kids think I do", "What my husband thinks I do", "What I think I do", "What I really do", and "What I pray every night I never have to do". It's a cool meme.

Twilight Moms: Double Standard?

I found this pic online the other day that points out, quite correctly, that there is a double standard for moms who are fans of the Twilight series of movies and books. See, if this was a bunch of guys screaming for a 17 year old girl, then someone would call the cops.

However, I don't really see this as accurate. I've known a few men in my day that had crushes that were, shall we say, less than age appropriate. Back when they were underage, I knew more than one guy that thought that the Olsen twins were hot. Also, there are guys that like the Disney Channel stars, etc.

So, while the picture and caption are funny, I don't think that they're accurate.

If these were 40 year-old me screaming for 17 year-old girls, someone would call the police.

Boy racer tries to outrace police - on the wrong side of a dual carriageway

This video comes to us courtesy of our friends across the pond. It's some idiot driver that is trying to play games with the police and drive down the wrong side of the street.

Now, I don't know about you, but I think this guy is in for some serious jail time. I am surprised that he didn't manage to kill anyone along the way.

Video of mad Canada riots: Vancouver fans run amok, set cars on fire

I always enjoy sharing a video of a good riot now and then, so I thought I would post this little gem from June 2011, involving fans from Vancouver rioting in the streets. Funny? No, but it is interesting how easily the animal side of people comes out when they think that they can get away with rioting or destroying property.

Mockumentary: Bike Lanes -- New York City

In this clip, an amateur "mockumentary" (fake documentary) film maker in New York, Casey Neistat, decided to make a funny video about how the bike lanes in the city were constantly blocked by obstructions after Casey got a ticket for NOT riding his bike in a bike lane.

I think that perhaps the funniest part of all this to me is where Casey Neistat points out at the end that it's NOT EVEN ILLEGAL to ride a bike outside of a bike lane in New York City. I think this is a perfect example of a dumb police officer trying to fill a ticket quota instead of checking up on the laws of his or her jurisdiction. Seriously, with all of the rapes, murders, and robberies in the world, I would think that cops could find something more productive to do with their time than to persecute hapless bike riders.

Cops caught playing Wii during drug raid

Ah, tax dollars at work! Check out this video of how cops decide to take a break from a drug raid to bowl a few frames on the suspect's Wii. Isn't it great to be the one with the guns in life?

To me, the funniest thing about this whole Wii bowling video during the drug raid is that the police officers seem to be genuinely engrossed by the game. It's not like they're just playing it to pass the time. You can actually see the different cops jumping up and down if they score a good hit on the pins.

What do you think?

Mexican-Americans Already Arrested Based on Arizona Immigration Law

Este video indica lo que pasara.

This is an indication of things to come.

What are your thoughts on the video? Is this the right direction for our country? Is Arizona controlled by a bunch of racists?
